Bolt Loosening and Displacement Monitoring Solution for Amusement Facilities

The amusement facilities in amusement parks are equipment that bring joy and excitement to people. They have a variety of sensory experiences such as high altitude, high speed, free fall, etc. However, due to the difficulty of inspection and maintenance, accidents are common, and every accident will cause casualties.

1、 Goals and Requirements

The safety of amusement facilities is very important, such as Ferris wheels, rail cars and other high-altitude and high-speed amusement equipment. Since this type of equipment is basically installed and used outdoors, it is inevitably oxidized and corroded by the natural environment. Moreover, the equipment has a certain height and a large number of bolts. There are dangers and omissions in the climbing and maintenance work of the staff. This situation often causes hidden dangers in the daily operation of the equipment. It has become a very necessary requirement to monitor the loosening of bolts of amusement facilities in real time to ensure the safety of tourists. The goal of this project is to design and implement an effective bolt displacement sensor application system to prevent safety accidents caused by loose bolts in playground equipment.

2. Sensor selection and installation

We will choose the intelligent bolt displacement sensor as the main monitoring tool. This sensing technology can detect small changes in bolts and has the characteristics of high sensitivity, high precision, real-time alarm and strong anti-interference ability. During the installation process, we will install intelligent bolt displacement sensors on several key bolts of the playground equipment to monitor the looseness of the bolts in real time, with a maximum accuracy of 3um. At the same time, in order to ensure the long-term stable operation of the sensor, we will choose corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant materials to make the sensor and take appropriate protective measures.

3. Data collection and transmission

The data collection part will be completed by sensors. When the bolts become loose, the sensors will detect the changes and generate corresponding data. These data are sent to the online PHM data center via wireless transmission and compared against relevant security standards. The wireless communication module configured by Zhaohui has the characteristics of low power consumption, high stability and high transmission rate, ensuring real-time transmission and accuracy of data. At the same time, we will set up data storage devices to back up the collected data for subsequent analysis and processing.

4. Data analysis and processing

In the PHM data center, we will write corresponding programs to process the received data. The program will filter and analyze the data to determine the degree of bolt looseness and issue an alarm based on the set threshold. When it is detected that bolt looseness exceeds the safety threshold, the system will automatically send alarm information to the data center and the mobile terminals of on-site personnel. It can also be set to semi-automatic or automatic emergency response measures according to the requirements of the park to slow down or stop the equipment. Operation and other processing, so that timely measures can be taken to evacuate personnel and repair facilities. In addition, the system will also have a data visualization function to display the loosening of bolts through charts and other methods to facilitate management personnel’s monitoring and decision-making.

5. Results Feedback and Application

After completing the bolt repair, the relevant personnel need to recalibrate the sensor to ensure the accuracy of its monitoring. In addition, based on the results of historical data analysis, we can predict the operating status of playground equipment and formulate maintenance plans to achieve the goals of preventive maintenance and extending the service life of equipment. The application of this solution will help improve the safety, reliability and visitor experience of playground equipment.
